Personal Training
I work with my clients to design a program to meet their personal fitness goals. I feel that HIIT training is particularly effective in creating the lean, strong bodies most of my clients desire. If you're looking for a different type of program, contact me and we can work together to create the workout program that is right for you.
What is HIIT?
High Intensity Interval Training or HIIT for short is a form of exercise which alternates between very intense bouts of exercise and lower intensity interval training. This amazing fat-burning and body-transforming mode of exercise is ideal for those who are short on time but want to get results fast. HIIT training is a more efficient and effective form of exercise than spending an hour on the treadmill.
What are the benefits of HIIT?
-
Burn Fat. Not only do you burn more calories during the workout but studies have shown that you continue to burn calories for up to 24 hours afterward.
-
Improve Cardio. When you train in intervals, you work out both aerobically and anaerobically. That means by continuing to alternate between high intensity and low intensity, you’re constantly keeping your body on its toes. When the body is forced to adapt – that’s when change occurs. Additionally, this forces your body to tap into unused lung capacity which improves your general fitness level.
-
Lose weight, not muscle. Steady state cardio tends to lead to muscle loss. Studies show that both weight training and HIIT workouts allow dieters to conserve their hard-earned muscles while ensuring most of the weight lost comes from fat stores.
-
Blood Sugar Regulation. HIIT also helps to balance out uneven blood sugar levels. When insulin is under control, weight loss is much, much easier to manage.
-
Increase metabolism. HIIT stimulates production of human growth hormone which helps build muscle. More Muscle = Increased Metabolism.
-
Slow aging. Human growth hormone is not only responsible for increasing muscle, it also slows down the aging process and helps make you younger both inside and out!
Who can do HIIT?
Just because you’re working out at a higher intensity doesn’t mean HIIT isn’t for you. What’s considered “high intensity” for a seasoned athlete is not the same for a beginner. You might be out of breath and struggling for air after climbing a flight of stairs. That’s ok! Everyone has to start somewhere. Keep in mind wherever you’re starting from – you won’t be there for long!
